Ghosts as a gateway to cultural heritage? We were commissioned by the National Property Board of Sweden (Statens fastighetsverk) to create engagement around its visitor attractions through the film series Spökelser. But how do you spark a younger audience’s curiosity about historic places?
Instead of dates and kings, we chose ghosts, myths, and supernatural stories. By weaving real events together with local legends, suspense and mystery became an entry point to cultural history. Intriguing enough to spark curiosity, but always grounded in reality. Because everything has an explanation, doesn’t it...?
Futurniture developed the concept and scripts alongside SFV and the production company Pannrummet/Melker Becker AB. Shot on location, the films were launched across digital channels with a distinctive visual identity, trailers, and ads that built anticipation ahead of the premiere.
The result was a well-received series that gave the attractions a fresh route to a broader audience. A great example of how entertainment and strong storytelling can make cultural heritage come alive!
